Canalside Retrievers started they way most retriever programs have, the intention of creating the perfect hunting companion. After training his own retriever, Jeff started training gun dogs for other people. From there he transitioned to the AKC Hunt test program where he trained several dogs to Master Hunter Titles and Qualified for several Master Nationals. From there he moved to Field Trials training his own dogs to compete in the Qualifying and All-Age Stakes.

He has spent years working with several professional trainers, and successful Amatuer trainers which has progressed his training approach to where it is today. Whether your goal is to have the perfect hunting dog, run Hunt Tests or compete in Field Trials, the Basics are fundamentally the same. The approach begins with a solid foundation through teaching and then reinforcing the lessons.

Customized Retriever training programs are available, to fit your particular dog and objectives. We are able to do this by only accepting a limited number of dogs. We have access to a great deal of training grounds to provide excellent Field Trial Basics, Hunt Test Training and a thorough Gun Dog Program. While based in Southern New Jersey, we also train in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware. We travel to Southwest Georgia in the winter. In the summer we take a trip to Southern Ontario, Canada.

In addition to providing young dog training we offer a program designed for puppies from seven weeks of age on up. The program gives your puppy a head start on their training foundation. There are only a couple of spots for this special program.
